X-Men defender Josh Read and striker Dan Hayfield were both honoured as U SPORTS men's soccer second team All-Canadians at the awards gala Wednesday evening in conjunction with the U SPORTS national championship. In addition X-Men midfielder Ayoub Al-Arabi was named to the U SPORTS all-rookie team.
The third seeded UNB Reds defeated the second seeded StFX X-Men 2-1 in overtime in a come-from-behind win that earned them berths in both the AUS final and the U SPORTS national championship. It was the second consecutive year that the X-Men fell to the Reds in the AUS semifinal game, and the second time it was done in a heartbreaking fashion.

The win pushed the X-Men (8-3-1) into second place overall in the AUS conference, which earns them a first round bye in the Subway AUS Championship next weekend in Sydney, NS.
In a battle of U SPORTS top ten teams, the No.1 ranked Cape Breton Capers outlasted the No. 9 StFX X-Men by a score of 2-1 in a scintillating match Friday evening at Oland Stadium. The Capers improve to 2-0-1 on the season, while the X-Men suffer their first loss and fall to 2-1-0.
X-Men soccer defender Josh Read is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Josh is a third year human Kinetics student from Bath, England.

StFX striker Dan Hayfield was honoured with the Joe Johnson Memorial Trophy as U SPORTS men’s soccer Player of the Year Wednesday night, as the national award winners were celebrated at the annual All-Canadian gala.
X-Men midfielder Dan Hayfield was honored as the 2017 AUS most valuable player. He, along with teammates Blake Fenton, Thomas Pieroway, Josh Read and Natneal Tecle were all named as AUS first team all-stars.
