The StFX X-Men picked up four points in the AUS standings with an 89-75 victory over the Acadia Axemen Saturday night. Two evenly-matched teams came into this game looking to improve on their record before the December break.
The Dalhousie Tigers (4-2) defeated the StFX X-Men (2-3) by an 89-70 score Saturday afternoon at the Oland Centre, completing a home-and-home sweep this week, having previously beaten the same X-Men squad Wednesday night in Halifax.
In their first matchup in the young season, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the StFX X-Men in basketball action at the Dalplex. A very strong first quarter for the Tigers set the tone for the game, as they came away with the 90-76 win.

After leading the team to the brink of an AUS championship last season, gone are four starters and eight players in total, including former All-Canadian Kevin Bercy and AUS all-star Julius Antoine. Bercy has continued his outstanding career playing professionally in Spain. This year’s squad might be the youngest in Coach Steve Konchalski’s 44 years at StFX, with seven freshmen and an average age of less than 20 years.

Javon Masters (Kitchener, ON) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Varsity Reds in a 93-84 win over the StFX X-Men as UNB Varsity Reds not only earned the victory, but also a bye in the first round of the Subway AUS Championship.
