X-Men Basketball Invitational Tournament

The X-Men Invitational is an annual four-team exhibition tournament hosted by the StFX X-Men every October.

The X-Men Invitational began in 1979 upon the initiation of X-Men basketball head coach Steve Konchalski and the StFX Athletic Director at the time, Father George Kehoe. The X-Men Invitational is one of the longest-running consecutive year men's basketball tournaments in the CIS, having been in existance for over 30 years now.

Ernie Foshay was a strong supporter of StFX Athletics and is a member of the the StFX Sports Hall of Fame as a former X-Men basketball and football athlete. After his passing in 1991, the tournament Most Valuable Player Award was renamed the Ernie Foshay Memorial Award in honor of Mr. Foshay.

The StFX X-Men have won the tournament on 17 occasions, including the most recent tournament in October, 2009 when they defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 82-71 in the championship game. They have claimed tournament honors 7 times in the past 9 years.
