Cross-Country History
The StFX Cross-Country team first gained recognition in 1994 when 4th year Human Kinetics student Lisa Dunne won the AUS Cross-Country Championships and represented our conference at the National Championships in London, 0ntario. The team made steady progress over the years and soared to gretaer heights with the arrival of Lavina Gough in 1996. She brought national attention to the StFX Cross-Country team in 1999, when she won a silver medal at the CIS Championships in Kingston, Ontario and was named to the Women's University team to represent Canada at the World University Cross-Country Championships in Gena, Germany.
In the year 2000, the X-Women won their first AUS Championship and followed that by winning again in 2002. On the Men's side, Eric Gillis has shown that he is one of the top university runners in Canada by representing Canada at the World Championships in Spain (2001) and Switzerland (2002). Eric was named 2nd team All Canadian in 2000 and 1st team in 2001 and 2002.
