Feb 07 2010
The CIS ranked No. 5 X-Women improved their league-leading record to 15-2-3 with a 4-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday afternoon at the StFX Keating Centre.
StFX built up leads of 1-0 after 20 minutes and 4-0 after 40 minutes en route to the win. Jessica Shanahan scored the first X-Women goal late in the first period with 47 second left on the clock. Shanahan notched a power play marker, capitalizing on a rebound in front of Tigers goaltender Ashley Boutlier. Suzanne Fenerty and Marilynn Hay assisted on the play.

Catie Gavin notched the X-Women’s third goal (12:36) of the game. Boutlier made the initial save on goal but the puck trickled under her pads and Gavin popped it in the net. Abygail Laking assisted on the Gavin goal, then later scored X’s fourth goal of the game at the 17:26 mark of the second period. Laking stole a loose puck in front of Boutlier and knocked it on. Sidney Ritchie had the assist.
